Ryan started playing sports at the age of 5. Football, basketball, baseball and track, he excelled at it all. He graduated from UW-Green Bay with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. While in school Ryan made health and fitness a part of his life and also played rugby. He turned his
competitive nature towards running multiple 10k’s and half marathons. When he first started dating his now wife, she told him to try CrossFit. Ryan was more tired and wiped out after his first CrossFit WOD than he was running the Miami ING half marathon two days earlier. Ryan has been hooked on CrossFit ever since. He loves how well-rounded the training is and the challenge it brings to each and every workout. Ryan has been the owner of CrossFit Appleton since July of 2011. With his encouraging and positive manner, Ryan has helped many clients change their lives and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

Sam’s journey into the world of CrossFit started in July of 2013. He was in the same boat that a lot of people are in today, he was overweight and really out of shape. Fast forward to today and he has lost over 50 lbs and cut his body fat percentage in half. Because of CrossFit he
has found a new love for fitness and being active. His favorite aspect of CrossFit is weightlifting! Heavy front and back squats, cleans, and snatches, its all about throwing that barbell around for him.
Sam loves to have a good time, and that is how he coaches. His main goal is make to sure that each member that comes through the door has the best hour of their day. He has an acute understanding of what it is like to be at a low point in terms of health and well being, and his passion to is help those that are in a similar situation as he was change their life for the better. He is very open about his journey, so if you feel like CrossFit is not for you stop in and say hi! Give him a chance to prove, that regardless of where you begin, you can end up doing some pretty incredible things!

Fitness has always been an important hobby to me. Early on, my active lifestyle involved sports, weight lifting, and “cardio” on a stair stepper or elliptical. After graduating from college I found it more difficult to commit to my regular routine. I had heard of CrossFit and decided to give a
workout a try. I did the benchmark workout “Fran”, which absolutely kicked my butt – it was unlike anything else I had done before and I was hooked. Around the same time, I had secured my first job at an outpatient orthopedic clinic and I began to understand the connection between how the movements we perform in CrossFit transfer to everyday activities. I love CrossFit because it is the ultimate assessment of human movement and it facilitates community like no other “gym” could.
