Sam Davis
Sam DavisOwner/Head Coach
Sam’s journey into the world of CrossFit started in July of 2013. He was in the same boat that a lot of people are in today, he was overweight and really out of shape. Fast forward to today and he has lost over 50 lbs and cut his body fat percentage in half. Because of CrossFit he
has found a new love for fitness and being active. His favorite aspect of CrossFit is weightlifting! Heavy front and back squats, cleans, and snatches, its all about throwing that barbell around for him.
Sam loves to have a good time, and that is how he coaches. His main goal is make to sure that each member that comes through the door has the best hour of their day. He has an acute understanding of what it is like to be at a low point in terms of health and well being, and his passion to is help those that are in a similar situation as he was change their life for the better. He is very open about his journey, so if you feel like CrossFit is not for you stop in and say hi! Give him a chance to prove, that regardless of where you begin, you can end up doing some pretty incredible things!

Steve Huft

Fitness has always been an important hobby to me. Early on, my active lifestyle involved sports, weight lifting, and “cardio” on a stair stepper or elliptical. After graduating from college I found it more difficult to commit to my regular routine. I had heard of CrossFit and decided to give a
workout a try. I did the benchmark workout “Fran”, which absolutely kicked my butt – it was unlike anything else I had done before and I was hooked. Around the same time, I had secured my first job at an outpatient orthopedic clinic and I began to understand the connection between how the movements we perform in CrossFit transfer to everyday activities. I love CrossFit because it is the ultimate assessment of human movement and it facilitates community like no other “gym” could.

Kayley Sauer
Kayley SauerCoach
Hi, I’m Kayley. Nutrition and fitness are some of the passions in my life, but it wasn’t always that way. My sister, who is also a Level 1 coach, convinced me to try CrossFit back in 2013, and I’ve never looked back. I was in my senior year of college- overweight, introverted and terrified to
try something new. I knew I needed to change. Walking into my very first class on a warm September night changed everything. What I loved instantly about CrossFit was the atmosphere. Complete strangers welcomed me into their class as if I had been a part of their gym for months. Another aspect of CrossFit that I love is its ability to push athletes beyond their limits, both mentally and physically. I will never forget the feeling of completing my first WOD and not dying, even though I was convinced I was going to. After doing CrossFit for a few years, I decided to venture out of my comfort zone once again when I decided to obtain my level one certification. Coaching others has helped me continue to grow as an athlete.
Outside of the gym, I trade in my spandex for a pair of scrubs. I’m a surgical nurse at an orthopedic surgery center in Appleton. I became a nurse because I wanted to impact people‘s lives in a meaningful way. Being a CrossFit coach allows me to do that along with my day job – it’s the best of both worlds!
So if you’re looking for a change like I was, trust your instincts and GO FOR IT! You won’t regret it.

Kelsey Boge
Kelsey BogeCoach
Kelsey has always loved to be active and healthy. She played many sports from a young age all the way through college, where she played softball at Loras College in Dubuque, IA. After graduating with her Bachelor’s Degree in
Sociology and Psychology she decided to pursue her Master’s in Social Work from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA. While in Davenport, Kelsey was looking for something to fulfill her craving of competition that she was missing after playing collegiate softball. Her husband, Cole, had started this new program, CrossFit, and could not stop talking about it. Kelsey decided to give it a try and see what it was all about, she hasn’t looked back since. Throughout her CrossFit journey, Kelsey has enjoyed competing in a few competitions, meeting so many amazing people, and learning new things every single day. Her passion for learning and the desire to help others succeed has led her to coaching. Coaching has been a passion for Kelsey for many years, she has coached softball and volleyball at various levels throughout her life and she looks forward to the next adventure of coaching CrossFit.

When Kelsey is not dancing around the gym, she is helping families in the area as a School Social Worker, hanging out at home with her cat, Griffey, or running around on a volleyball court. Helping others reach their full potential is her ultimate goal in becoming a CrossFit coach.

Shane’s fitness journey began as most peoples do…..he looked in the mirror and did not like what was looking back at him. Shane set out to get a gym membership to help get back himself. Shane has always been very active in sports and
recreational activities. He worked his butt off for a year and lost a good amount of weight but then he hit a plateau where no matter how much cardio or machine work he did, he just could not lose any more weight. Shane has always been very active in sports and recreational activities. He worked his butt off for a year and lost a good amount of weight but then he hit a plateau where no matter how much cardio or machine work he did, he just could not lose any more weight. So like most people, he tried a different gym…but got the same results…then another gym….same results, at one point in time he had 4 gym memberships! One day he heard about a competition that was going on and one of his friends was going to compete in it so he decided to go cheer him on. While there, he saw a couple of people competing from CrossFit Appleton. He decided to stop in and check out CFA for himself. He absolutely fell in love with the people and the atmosphere that were at CrossFit Appleton. He has made the best of friends while working out and it challenges him everyday! He loves the variety that CrossFit workouts provide and truly appreciated that no matter who was coaching the class, they were always there to show you exactly how to do each of the movements during the workout. Ultimately in June 2017 Shane decided that he wanted to give back to the CrossFit community that helped him lose weight, build muscle and gain his self confidence back so he went for his CF-L1 and it turned out to be one of the best decisions he has ever made. Now he is helping the CrossFit community that gave him so much when he needed it most!

StellaChief Doggo Officer
Well hi there! My name is Stella and I am CDO, Chief Doggo Officer, at CrossFit Appleton. I pretty much run the show around here. I mean, I do take a lot of naps throughout the day, but my job is hard work! A couple things you need to
know about me: don’t waste my time with a tiny little tennis ball; if you want to play, grab a medball, and I will show you my sick ball-handling skills. If you need to stretch, I will always be there to help you out. Mainly, I will just sit in your lap so you can pet me; you gotta get those hands warmed up for the workout! I’ve also got a couple people trained to fill my water bowl about every 30 seconds, but if you are looking for a job, I am always hiring. The pay isn’t that great, but I will sit in your lap afterward for some good pets. And, saving the best for last, I love to play with little kiddos, so if you bring them along while you work out, I will do my best at babysitting them for you!

The best part of my job is helping people relieve stress. Did you know that spending just a couple minutes petting me will help reduce your overall stress levels? Also I am here for you if you are a little scared or nervous about trying CrossFit for the first time. I don’t care what your fitness level is, how fast you can run a mile, how much weight you can lift; I just want you to be happy and feel at home. I know some people are not fans of dogs and I am ok with that, all you need to do is tell my Dad, Coach Sam, and he will put me in my room. I have a super comfy bed in there, so it really doesn’t bother me at all!

If you are interested in trying out CrossFit, but feel scared or intimidated, just stop in to see me instead! I will show you the ropes and how awesome CrossFit and the CrossFit community is!
